Y511-L LoRaWAN Edge Gateway with Modbus Integration

LoRaWAN Indoor Edge Gateway

Y511-L links LoRaWAN sensors to PLCs and applications. Optional local NS/AS software enables JavaScript processing and Modbus TCP/RTU mapping on this indoor edge gateway.

  • LoRaWAN
  • Edge Gateway
  • JavaScript
  • Modbus TCP/RTU
  • MQTT
  • Optional 4G

Key Features

01

8 receive / 1 transmit or 16 receive / 2 transmit channels, with Ethernet, Wi-Fi and optional 4G backhaul

02

Forward packets to an external Network Server or order local Network Server / Application Server software

03

JavaScript payload decoding, message transformation, scheduled acquisition and local rules with local-service software

04

MQTT, HTTP, TCP and WebSocket application integration in the local-service configuration; supported message directions vary by protocol

05

Modbus TCP/RTU server exposes mapped end-device registers to PLCs on compatible software; RS485 hardware is standard

06

9–28 VDC supply and up to 15 W maximum power for the higher-power 16-channel full-duplex configuration

Specifications

LoRaWAN Radio

Supported End Device Versions
LoRaWAN 1.0.2 / 1.0.3 / 1.0.4
Supported End Device Classes
Class A / Class C
Frequency Plans
CN470 (default), EU433, EU868, AU915, IN865, AS923, RU864, US915; region-specific hardware; specify the AS923 sub-plan when ordering
Channel Options
8 RX / 1 TX or 16 RX / 2 TX
Duplex
Half-duplex or full-duplex hardware options
Transmit Power
Up to 27 dBm; use settings allowed by the regional plan
Receiver Sensitivity
Down to -140 dBm at SF12, BW125 kHz
Spreading Factor
SF7–SF12
Capacity
Device capacity depends on payload size, reporting interval, airtime, interference and regional radio limits. Channel count alone does not determine capacity.

Network Interfaces

Ethernet
10/100 Mbps RJ45
Wi-Fi
2.4 GHz, AP+STA, IEEE 802.11 b/g/n
Cellular
Optional 4G; supported operator bands depend on the cellular module
RS485
Standard A/B hardware; Modbus RTU integration requires compatible software
USB
MicroUSB USB-TTL debug/log interface

Edge Software

Local NS/AS
Local Network Server / Application Server (NS/AS), available as a software option
JavaScript
Payload encoding/decoding, message conversion, downlink commands, scheduled acquisition and local rules with local NS/AS
MQTT
Application uplinks and downlinks in local-service configuration
HTTP
Push supported uplink, acknowledgement, and gateway-status messages only; downlinks require a separate supported protocol
TCP
Gateway acts as an application TCP client; requires application framing, payload schema adaptation, and reconnect configuration
WebSocket
Bidirectional application session in local-service configuration
Remote Forwarding
In external Network Server mode, configure application integration on the external server

Modbus Integration

Role
Modbus TCP/RTU server/slave exposing mapped end-device holding registers to a PLC or supervisory client/master, on compatible software
Mapping
Requires scripts, payload decoding, Unit IDs, register layout, scaling, and byte-order configuration
Freshness
Mapped measurement registers can contain values from an earlier uplink. Check data age and the reporting interval. A successful write response does not prove that a wireless output changed state.

Power Supply

Voltage
DC 9–28 V; typical DC 12 V
Maximum Current
1.25 A at DC 12 V
Average Power
≤5 W
Maximum Power
Up to 15 W for the higher-power 16-channel full-duplex configuration

Environmental

Operating Temperature
-20 to 70 °C
Storage Temperature
-40 to 85 °C
Humidity
0–95% RH, non-condensing
Location
Indoor

Mechanical

Dimensions 8 Channel
120.4 × 79.7 × 34 mm
Dimensions 16 Channel
125.5 × 120.4 × 34 mm
Weight 8 Channel
Approximately 1 kg
Weight 16 Channel
Approximately 1.5 kg
Mounting
DIN rail or wall mounting with the matching bracket

Deployment

Regional Matching
Match gateway, Network Server, and end-device plans and channel groups, including AS923 sub-plan
Downlinks
Class A receives downlinks after an uplink. Class C provides more receive opportunities. Delivery time depends on airtime, server scheduling and regional radio limits.
Ordering
